Scott Bassett

I've been drawn to art since I was very young and it's always been a part of my life. Having completed degrees in graphic design and advertising in 1976, I left Spokane, Washington to work in the Seattle area. My wife, Tammy, and I returned to Spokane after three years, preferring the Spokane area and wanting to be close to family. I worked as a staff designer and art director for several companies before launching my own design and marketing business, Bassett & Brush Design, in 1985. I've also worked as a professional photographer over the course of my career, which led to my fascination with panoramic photographs. I finally decided to pursue my passion in 2014 which evolved into the handcrafted fine art prints I produce today.

My vision for handcrafted fine art prints is to combine my love of photography, drawing, and woodworking into a unique composite of the three. Panoramic photos fascinate and intrigue me, so I start with an idea for a panoramic photo. The subject of the photograph and drawing are related somehow by location or history.  Always shooting with combinations in mind, when I photograph a panoramic image I also photograph possible things in the area to use as reference for the drawing for the companion mat board.
The Drawing is created by hand. I use my own photographs as reference to create my drawings, whenever possible. The drawing is then printed onto the mat board I’ve selected for the piece.
Each photographic print is hand mounted and lacquer finished. I cut the companion mat board, and hand-Ietter & sign each piece. The two components are then assembled and sealed with the museum quality, anti-reflective glass.
Handcrafting the solid hardwood Black Walnut & Cherry frames  from scratch is my finishing touch to a true work of art.
